SOME RECIPES ARE TOO GOOD TO LOSE.
Mama Keeps the Good Ones.
This is Mama Mixy’s corner of Pink Smoke Social.
The recipes that worked. The shortcuts that actually help.
The little kitchen tricks she’s picked up along the way.
And the things she’s told us enough times that
we should probably start writing them down.
Some of it came from a recipe card.
Some of it came from experience.
Some of it came from looking at what
I was doing and saying,
“Why are you doing it like that?”
Welcome to Mama’s Recipe Box.
MAMA HAS A FEW THINGS TO SAY
You Might Want to Write This Down.
Mama has recipes worth keeping,
opinions worth hearing,
and absolutely no interest in making
something harder than it needs to be.
Fortunately for us, she shares.

FRESH FROM THE RECIPE BOX
Mama’s Been Busy.

Right now Mama’s sorting through recipes,
remembering the things she never measures,
and trying to explain instructions that
apparently include phrases like
“you’ll know when it looks right.”
We’re writing it all down.
Mostly.
MAMA KNOWS BETTER
Good Food Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated.
Not everything needs twelve ingredients,
three pans and an afternoon you don’t have.
Use the shortcut. Buy the pie crust.
Keep a few things in the freezer.
Make enough for tomorrow.
And when you find a recipe everybody actually likes,
hang onto the damn thing.
The point isn’t proving you can make dinner the hard way.
The point is feeding your people something good.
FROM MAMA’S KITCHEN
A Few Things She Thought You Should Know.

Mama’s miscellaneous kitchen drawer.
Every kitchen has one of those drawers.
Nobody knows why there are seventeen
twist ties and a battery in there.
Don’t question it.
BEFORE YOU GO…
Have You Eaten?
Because if the answer is no, Mama’s probably already fixing that.
Take a recipe with you. And make enough for leftovers.
